EAT MORE FRUITS & VEGETABLES

Fruits and vegetables are important sources of vitamins, minerals, fibre and antioxidants which are needed for optimal functioning of the body. Fruits and vegetables, which are generally low in calories and fats, and contain no cholesterol should be included in the daily menu.

Regular intake of fruits and vegetables can increase resistance against diseases, prevent constipation and reduce the risk of getting heart disease and cancer.

Choose a variety of fresh fruits as desserts and consume fresh and dried fruits as snacks.
Choose fresh fruits instead of preserved canned fruits.
Consume unsweetened fruit juices after main meals.
Eat a combintion of fruits and vegetables of various colours for every meal.
Eat more raw vegetable salads.
Choose vegetable soups and cut down on creamy ones such as mushroom soup.
